Abstract
Since human dignity is the most fundamental concept in the formulation of human rights, in the current circumstances and the confrontation of the Islamic world with Western human rights schools, presenting human rights from an Islamic perspective is important and expected. The present paper uses a descriptive-analytical method, using a library-based approach, utilizes Islamic teachings and relies on the sayings of Imam Ali (‘a) in Nahj al-Balaghah, to explain the existential greatness of man and the secret of his superiority over other beings. By explaining that the source of human dignity is the divine spirit breathed into the human body, it examines dignity into two parts: inherent dignity and acquired dignity. Imam Ali (‘a), in this regard, by mentioning the manifestations of respect for people in their interactions with each other, emphasizes the protection of human honor from various aspects and states that paying attention to the dignity of individuals in society and observing its requirements will cause any kind of oppression and discrimination to leave the Islamic society, and human dignity will be established as the main characteristic in civic rights
